Week # 10 : Ramblers fall to Mustangs to end Season

The Ramblers fell in the opening game of the Class "A" sectional to the unbeaten Fountain Central Mustangs on a damp and cool Friday night to bring an end to the Rambler football season. We wish the Mustangs good luck in representing our area in the rest of the tournament ! WFWR would like to thank all of our underwriters who helped us bring all of the Red Ramblers Football games into your homes again this year as well as the AHS Staff and players. We wish good luck to our Seniors and thanks for a great four years! We look forward to AHS basketball for both the men and the women coming up in just a few short weeks. We are still looking for additional underwriters for these games and if you or your business can help out, every little bit is appreciated! Week # 9 : Ramblers Romp on Senior Night!

The Ramblers faced the winless Turkey Run Warriors on Senior night at Bruce Field for the last regular season game. Geddy Harp shined as he had the best game I have seen him play as the Ramblers win big, 49-6 over the Warriors. Give Turkey Run an "A" for effort as they started the season short on numbers and could not field a team for the opening scrimmage. After recruiting some classmates to join up, they came out an kept their football program alive for another season. We follow the Ramblers back to Veedersburg for the second time this year to face the unbeaten Mustangs in the sectional opener. It won't be easy and the Ramblers will need their "A" game and a bit of luck, but I just saw the Purdue Boilers beat Ohio State this afternoon after what had been a dismal season so far for them so I know that anyone can be beaten on a given day. GO RAMBLERS!!! Week # 8 Ramblers drop one at Indy

The Ramblers traveled to Indianapolis Lutheran last Friday to take on the Saints on a very wet, cold and muddy evening. Although there were some bright spots for the Ramblers the Saints were able to handle the conditions and win over the Ramblers. Tonight is Senior night at Bruce Field, so if you can get up there and support your team against the Warriors of Turkey Run, get on out for this last regular season game! Senior night will be before the game, so we will be on the air just a little early for that. The Ramblers drew the tough Fountain Central Mustangs for the 1st sectional game next week and we will travel back down to Veedersburg for that one. Week # 7 : Rambler Roll Over Trojans!!

In what most of us thought might be a pretty close game due to the Trojans putting so many points on the board so far this year in spite of their record, the Ramblers were again on their "A" game ( no pun intended ) and coasted to an easy win on week # 7 over Covington 47-12. The highlight of the game for me was the old "Hook and Ladder" that was executed most perfectly late in the 1st half to tack on an easy Rambler touchdown! It was as short pass to Willie Hurst and then a quick handoff to Seth Rooze as he rounded to corner at just the perfect time to scramble in for the TD. This Friday, we travel to Indianapolis Lutheran for a non-conference game on the road. Hopefully Duncan Gillmore will join join John and I at about 6:45 with all the Red Rambler action so tune in on 91.5 FM or through Shoutcast.com!! See you Friday night!! Larry

Week 6 : Ramblers Coast to Homecoming Win!

The Ramblers scored on their 1st drive to take the early lead at Bruce Field on Friday night and coasted to a victory over the North Vermillion Falcons 44-12. The Rambler running game looked as good as it has all year behind Seth Rooze and Jarrett Smart. The passing game was near perfect as well with several "nice short passes" that turned up for big yards. This win brings the Ramblers back to an even 3 and 3 for the season and will face the Trojans of Covington this week here at home. Covington has been putting some big numbers on the board and will come to A-Town with all they have, so it should be another good game this week. Get out an support the Ramblers this week and take the opportunity to hear the great sounding AHS band perform. If you can't make it to the game, be sure and listen in at about 6:45 PM right here on WFWR 91.5 FM and we will have all the Rambler football action as well as the band performance!!

Week 5 : Mustangs Wrangle Ramblers

Sorry this one is getting out late in the week. The Ramblers traveled to Fountain Central to take on the Mustangs on Friday night, but the Mustangs simply outgunned the Ramblers for a homecoming win. The Ramblers played a relitively mistake free game, with some great running and passing, but the Mustangs were the better team at least for the evening. The Ramblers are back home for their Homecoming this Friday night against the Falcons of North Vermillion. This should prove to be an exciting game, so plan to get out and support the Ramblers with a big crowd!!! Remember that WFWR is the only radio station to carry ALL of the Red Rambler action all season long, so tune in to 91.5 FM about 6:45 PM for the play by play with John, Larry and Duncan Gilmore on the sidelines with his perspective on the game. Week 4 Rox Hold On For The Win!!!

A great night for WRC foot ball took the Ramblers to Rockville to face the Rox Friday night. The Rox scored early but the Ramblers kept their game alive and were able to pull within 5 late in the game with a chance to take the lead at about 2 minutes to go, but SEVERAL penalties were too costly for the Ramblers and they end up beaten 13-18 on the road. Another test this week as we head to Fountain Central for another matchup. WFWR will have all the action starting at about 6:45 PM. Talk to you Friday night!!! Have a good week!!!

Week 3 Patriots Down Ramblers

Some great running by the patriots coupled with some costly Rambler mistakes allowed Seeger to leave town with a "River Bowl" victory and thier 1st win of the season. It won't get easier for the Big Red as they take on Rockville next week at the Rox home field. The Pats travel to Riverton Parke and should make a good showing against the Panthers. Hear all the Rambler action right here on WFWR 91.5 FM at about 6:45 PM!! Remember that we are not on Comcast channel 5 !! I'm still having folks stop me and ask why we are not "doing the games" this year. We are, but Comcast just picked a bad time to take us off. Please call and let them know how you feel about it!!

Week Two and Ramblers Survive

The Ramblers looked good this week against the Gophers. The Gophers had obviously watched some game films or had a good scouting report as they keyed on some of the Ramblers assets, but the Ramblers were still too much for the Gophers who put on a late rally behind a husky sophmore running back. The Ramblers win 21-12.

Next Friday is "River Bowl" as the Patriots come to town to take on the Ramblers here at Bruce Field. The winless Pats are hungry for a victory and will bring their "A" game against the 2-0 Ramblers, so it should be a great game. Remember that as of this writing, WFWR is not on Comcast Cable channel # 5, so you will need to listen the old fashioned way and tune to 91.5 FM on your radio. We are trying to work with Comcast to get back on the cable system, but feel free to call thier Lafayette office to let them know you want to hear WFWR on the cable system. Till then, have a safe week and we will talk to you on Fiday night!!!!!!!!!!

Week One Done

The Red Ramblers survived week one and game one of the season by handily defeating Riverton Parke at Riverton Parke. The Panthers running back Thompson showed that the Panthers could be contenders, but their hikes to the QB and to the punter cost them dearly throughout the night. The Ramblers were solid throughout and Sophomore RB Jarrett Smart showed some of his strengths as well as some of the other Ramblers.

Thanks to Duncan Gilmore for filling in for John at the microphone. He did a great job as did Becky helping us out from home in getting things "tuned in" for the broadcast. We will be live from Attica's Bruce Field as the Ramblers take on The Clinton Prairie Gophers in a non-conference game. The last several times these two teams have played either here or over there, we have have rain and thunderstorms. Let's hope for a nice clear cool night for another Rambler victory. John and I will be on the air about 6:45 PM with all the action. We may even get Duncan on again this week from the sidelines!!!!

Friday Night Lights With WFWR 91.5FM

Well, it's time!! Join Larry Grant along with Duncan Gilmore as the Red Ramblers open their 2009 football season against the Panthers of Riverton Parke! Duncan will be there to add some insight to the game as he is coming off the field from coaching this year and joining the WFWR Sports Team for the 1st time. There should be plenty of fun and excitment for all, so tune your radio to 91.5 FM as we will be on the air live at about 6:45 PM Friday night. Let others that may be listening on Comcast TV Cable that they will need to tune their radio to 91.5 FM as well since we are not yet back on tv cable channel 5. Talk to you Friday night!!!!

WFWR on Comcast Channel 5

WFWR is currently working with Comcast to get our programing back on Channel 5 in Attica and Williamsport. They apparently moved the "broadcast" equipment for channel 5 to Lafayette and replaced the WFWR audio signal with satellite radio. This means that WFWR sports and other programs will not be on Comcast Cable until we have the situation resolved. I spoke with them Friday morning and they seemed like they might be willing to work with us and get us back on the cable system at some point in the future. We know that many of of our loyal listeners tune in to the sports broadcasts on thier TV set rather than the radio. If you know someone who listens on TV, you might let them know to tune their radio to 91.5 FM so thet don't miss a single play by play call. John and I will try and keep everyone updated on the Comcast status as we continue to work with them.
